A big thanks to all the tapers out there that make sharing the music possible. A lot of time, effort, and money goes in to what you do and it is greatly appreciated.

Hey all you tapers out there! What are some of y'all's weirdest taping experiences? Mine (though I've had more than one) is probably the time I drove all the way from Denver to Kansas City (an 11-hour drive) in a straight shot to the Grand Emporium to see the Chris Duarte Group play and to deliver to Chris the fan club "Amplitude" CD release. Anyway, I've got my rig and my mic clipped on and I'm relaxing and enjoying the show when suddenly this drunk motherf@#%er wobbles up to me and starts saying. "Hey man, do you wanna' fuck with me?" in a slurred alcohol-breath fog. He keeps repeating this same phrase over and over. Being the professional taper I am I tried to move to another location instead of shoving my beer bottle completely up his ass! Sure as shit he follows me again, bellowing "You wanna' fuck with ME?" Again, being a professional, I make a big move to the front of the stage (not a good place to tape) instead of clocking him in the head with the large crystal ashtrays sitting on the tables (this was back in the olden days when you could actually smoke in clubs). Jesus H. Krishna if that SOB doesn't wade through the crowd again and follows me! This time I go get an employee (all the time I'm recording) who was by the stage and he helps get this jerk tossed, but as they are leading him away I just couldn't help but drive my elbow as hard as I could into his back as a thank-you for blathering over my recording and making me move. Unfortunately another employee saw me do that and tosses me out, too! Anyway, all of this brou-ha-ha was recorded with the funniest part being the sound of the Chris Duarte Group fading away as I'm being led out to the street where the drunk is at. He starts in again and I tell him how I drove 11 hours straight from Denver to see this show and got to see two songs thanks to him. Suddenly, in a moment of guilty clarity, he's all apologetic and wants to be my best friend. He was trippin' all over himself apologizing and wants to buy me a drink. So I come up with a plan in which we walk back up to the door with our arms around each other's shoulders like long-lost buddies and tell the guy at the door that we promise to not cause any trouble (and I again whip out my 11-hour drive card) and luckily they let us back in. The drunk went off somewhere else and I resumed recording the show, losing three songs in the process. But hey, half a loaf is better than no loaf at all!

Chris will be playing a new Colorado Springs, venue, Stargazers on April 12. I'd love to tape that show. I'm wondering if someone from Chris's organization can talk to the people at the venue to let them know it's OK to record?

I'm wondering if someone from Chris's organization can talk to the people at the venue to let them know it's OK to record? You might call the venue and see if it will even be an issue. If it is, I would suggest contacting someone through Chris' myspace or official website to see if they can help you out. Best of luck. I'd love to get a copy of that show if you're able to get a good recording. They are on fire on this tour. Hit me up if it works out and you'd like to do a trade or something.

You will be only one of many tapers there that night, so don't worry about it. CO is prime CDG stomping ground, everyone knows the deal there. The fan club prez will be there taping too I assume, as this is in his territory. Have fun, might even see me there if all goes well!

I have a thch question for the tapers out there. Recently CDG played for my wedding rception in Steamboat Springs. The Fan club pres later sent me a live recording on CD of the reception. When I try to upload it into my laptop to immortalize it, all goes well on the fist to discs, but when I load the 3rd CD, the tracks get all mixed up, and the CDs start combining in random order. What am I missing? I want this in my laptop, so I can have it in my MP3 player, and so I can burn CDs for my cars. Any thoughts?
