Hi everyone. I've been listening to the Chris Duarte Group since the first time I saw them in '93. This message board is here because they kick ass! I thought the fans might like a place to get together and discuss the band, other stuff, and trade music.
They are one of my two favorite bands that I am really passionate about, the other being The Black Crowes. I will buy every album and dvd released by CDG and TBC and go see them live every chance I can. Really hoping to expand my CDG live show collection as well, I only have a few.
I also belong to a Black Crowes forum, which gave me the idea to start this one. I've discovered several bands through there that I might not have heard of otherwise. I like a lot of different kinds of music and love hearing new stuff, or even old stuff that's new to me. So hopefully everyone here will share their favorites as well. I've met a few really cool people from TBC forum and look forward to maybe meeting up with some of you at a show someday.
Anyway, thanks for checking out the forum. Looking forward to checking out your stories, reviews, pictures and videos about the Chris Duarte Group and anything else you feel like sharing with our online community.
Peace and Cheers,
George

I've been a fan since the late '80s and maintain the CDG fan club website www.chrisduartegroupfans.org. I am also a taper and have recorded many, many shows of Chris and the boys. Chris is truly a guitar player's guitar player!

Hey there, I was introduced to CDG by a friend in the late 90's. Loved the music, but didn't really get "it" until I saw him live. First saw him at the Hungry Tiger a few years ago....WOW!! I was transfixed by his playing. I'm pretty sure I didn't move thru the whole show cuz I just needed to focus on the skill and sounds. Now that I got the initial reaction out of the way, I can't be still when I see him. It's a beautiful thing.

I'm really happy to discover this forum. Thanks to prez ! I'm a long time swiss fan, since the shock I had listening to "Texas Sugar" and then being pulverized by "Tailspin headwhack". Saw CDG in a special trip I made a long time ago (year 2000), four shows in four days, finishing in the legendary Eureka Springs location. I love Chris' passionate guitar but also his songwriting. I've never ever understood why the critics compare him to Hendrix or SRV. He's unique. I love songs he wrote, BUT, sorry prez, I am not as enthusiastic as you are about "Vantage Point". Some songs like Satisfy, More Boogie, Troubles on Me let me a bit disappointed because I found no surprise in them. Well, it's not love at first sight that I felt listening to EVERY other cd (pretty rare), but I may feel more confortable with this cd soon.

First time I saw CDG was in Chicago, Illinois in '94. I got blown away! I've been a fan since then. Once I was just a collector, but I'm also a taper now. From Japan.
Thanks for the link, prez! I love "Vantage Point" so much!!

I have been a fan since 2000 when a friend took me to see Chris at the Zoo Bar in Lincoln, Nebraska. There were only 12 people there and thought I was wasting my time until Chris started to play. I don't think I closed my mouth for a week! Obviously, I have been hooked ever since and have seen him and his band live about 20 times. No one is better live than Chris!

Welcome, and thanks for joining the forum!
Invite your Duarte fan friends here also. If anyone has a website, myspace, blog, etc., feel free to post a link to the forum there. The more we can spread the word, the sooner we can get things moving here. I know there's a ton of CDG fans out there, it'd be great to have 'em come join in.
Thanks.

I first saw Duarte in 1995. Up until then I was mainly a big hard rock enthusiast, totally in love with the tone and playing of Blackmore, Schenker, Uli Jon Roth, and Gary Moore. Chris really has been my gateway into musical territories I'd never much ventured into. The only Blues that I really liked up until then was the incendiary "SINCE I'VE BEEN LOVING YOU" by Zep, and the 1993 "Muddy Waters" tour by Paul Rodgers, which featured Neal Schon on Guitar(still phenomenal when I listen again 15 years later). Jazz wasn't even on my radar in 1995 Because of my exposure to Chris, I now have a much more diverse pallet. Now I am able to listen to and enjoy so many more styles of Blues and Jazz, because it has all been made relative thanks to Chris and his never-ending explorations. It's like I took a little hit of Chris Duarte, and it connected some nuro-transmitters in my Brain that weren't connected before, and now I'm musically smarter! Now I "get" Jazz. Now I "get" Blues. Now I have a newfound appreciation for Jimi's genius. Someone once said "Music is the color in life. Without Music, life would be cold and gray". Well, I felt that way when I was fifteen years old, and still do. Mr. Duarte has added about many new colors to my musical landscape, and I am enriched.

Hey folks, I'm an old CDG fan from back in 1988 when I first saw him in a little bar beside some train track in Abilene. Since I live in DE, it's kinda tough to get to see him often enough. I've probably been to only 30-35 shows so far, but I try to see him perform at least twice a year. He is truly the most gifted guitarist I've ever seen, and I"ve seen most of the best, live in concerts over the years. Chris never fails to blow me away. Far and away he's been my favorite artist for many years. As far as Vantage Point goes, it's good, but it doesn't blow me away. Not like Texas Sugar did. Or One More Cup...from Romp. There's no CD's that I don't like though, every one has great tunes, in their own right. I even own his vinyl, signed by Chris, of him with the Bad Boys. That's a treat. Anyway, nice venue here, I'm looking forward to visiting often. Later, Keith from DE.
