I know that a lot of folks would like to be able to listen to and/or watch the goodies that are available on live-music sites such as Dime-a-dozen or Etree. And with very good reason! These sites are legal, and do not infringe on the rights of artists. They are mainly for the hardcore live music fans, who can't be satiated by just seeing a show or listening to official product. Even better yet for fans of an artist whose set-lists vary from night to night, as well as the versions of songs themselves. Anybody here know an artist like that? Ha!
The problem with most of these sites can be that they aren't very helpful in getting you started. Things are usually explained in Tutorials, written by people who have no business A)writing anything which is meant to be read by other humans, or B)teaching anybody anything.
There is a site, however, which has a pretty nice FAQ section which explains things in simple terms. What I'm going to do to try and help others get started in what I have found to be a very addictive hobby is to...........
A) Direct you folks to the FAQ where you can find info on torrents.
B) More specifically, I''m going to post the most relevant sections here, as a starting point.
C) Answer questions in a timely manner to those still needing help.
With this process we should be able to get almost everyone going.
The followingare the most important parts of the aforementioned FAQ.
After reading or following these excerpts, if one still needs help or has questions, one should next refer to the FAQ(and any relevant links within) to try to find resolution. If after these steps, you need further help, then(and only then) post your question in very specific terms here on this thread. I will respond ASAP, in the same thread.

Excerpt #1 (How to download)
I'm new to all this. How do I download with BitTorrent?
First download and install a BitTorrent client. For a Windows PCs we recommend uTorrent or Azureus, but you can also try Eike's experimental version, the official version, PTC, etc. For Mac OS X try the official OS X build or Sarwat's OS X version.
You should also try to open the ports that BitTorrent uses (6881 through 6999) in your firewall, gateway, or router. If you have a NAT gateway where one or more computer shares a connection, you will also want to enable port forwarding. Instructions for some common NAT devices are available. See also PortForward.
Finally, after installing the client when you click on the name of a file the client should open and begin the transfer.
A thorough comparision and list of clients is available:

Excerpt #2 (How to covert audio files)
What are FLAC files and how do I listen / burn them?
What are FLAC files?
FLAC stands for free lossless audio codec. It is an open source, lossless compression algorithm for digital music. It compresses music files to 50-60% of their original size, with no loss in quality. More FLAC information can be found on the FLAC sourceforge site and in this etree FAQ.
How do I burn FLAC files to CD as audio tracks?
You will first need to convert the FLAC files to another format that your burning program is familiar with. Windows users can use the FLAC Frontend, to convert FLAC files to WAV files, which are suitable for burning programs. For Macintosh OS X users, Dan Greuel has created a tool called MacFLAC.
How can I listen to FLAC files on my computer without making a CD?
Windows: Download and install WinAmp, a multi-format audio player, and then install the FLAC Plugin for WinAmp. Macintosh: Download and install MacAmp Lite, a multi-format audio player, and then install the FLAC Plugin for MacAmp. Or you can try MacFLAC.

So, in summery. If you've been to torrent site like Dime or Etree, and it seemed out of you're league, go look again, and then come back and read this to see if things start to make sense. If after trying everything, you've made some progress, but get stuck, give me(or hopefully us) here. If you make no initial progress, I dunno what to tell you. You need computer downloading basics 101
I guess! Good luck, AC
